
Vibration 2060 :
Nepal’s First Musical Band Competition
Vibration was a historic outdoor band competition organized by Times FM 90.6 MHz in BS 2060/61 (2003–2004 AD). Recognized as Nepal’s first-ever musical band competition, Vibration marked a defining moment when FM radio expanded its role beyond broadcasting and actively shaped the country’s live music culture.
Designed as an open, live outdoor event, the competition attracted massive youth participation and enthusiastic public audiences. Out of 42 participating bands, 14 bands were selected through competitive rounds to perform on the national platform.
Selected Bands
Zenesis, Tuff, Dr. Punk, Morcious, Remorse, Da Soul Band, Taremam, Painkillers, Tipsyphony, 3 Meek Puppets, Slow Poison, Sound Chemistry, Blood Blister, and Rudrakshya Mantra.
The competition culminated in a grand finale at the Birendra International Convention Centre (BICC), Baneshwor, Kathmandu, making it one of the earliest large-scale FM radio–led live music events in Nepal.

Sound Chemistry emerged as the winner of Vibration, gaining nationwide recognition through Times FM’s broadcast support and live exposure.
Legacy
Vibration played a pioneering role in strengthening Nepal’s early-2000s band movement and demonstrated how FM radio could function as a cultural incubator—creating platforms, discovering talent, and building lasting connections with youth. It remains a proud milestone in the history of Times FM and Nepal’s FM radio movement.
